There are two (2) Community Benefit Funds available exclusively to the Ward of Blaengwrach: –
The Selar Blaengwrach Community Benefit Fund typically awards grants of £500.00 (five hundred pounds) to £15,000.00 (fifteen thousand pounds). Projects that have previously been supported include a pitch drainage scheme for Cwmgwrach RFC, development of a Community Room at Blaengwrach Primary School, the refurbishment of Cwmgwrach Welfare Park and the purchase of equipment for both the Cwmgwrach Amatuer Boxing Club & Cwmgwrach Male Voice Choir. The Selar Fund is available by virtue of the Selar Opencast operation and Celtic Energy Limited.
The Aberpergwm Community Benefit Fund is an extra voluntary benefit offered by Energy Build Limited for the communities living closest to the mining operation. Grants of £500.00 (five hundred pounds) to £3,000.00 (three thousand pounds) will be awarded for capital items, essential items of equipment and events.
All voluntary and community organisations that are constituted and have a bank account in the name of that organisation are eligible to apply. Each Community Benefit Fund has its own criteria but they invite applications with similar themes such as recreation, education, health, culture, energy efficiency and the environment.
You can apply to either of the grants at any time, there are no cyclical rounds of funding.
